NEW! C.O.R.E. Dimensions Youth Skills Camp
Ability Connection is pleased to be partnering with Capable Minds, Hearts & Hands: The Potter’s House IDD Outreach to bring families new Youth Skills Camps in rotating Dallas County locations. To participate in a Skills Camp, children must reside in Dallas County and be 10-17 years of age.
The C.O.R.E. (Communication, Organization, Responsibility, Empathy) Dimensions Youth Skills Camp is a mobile camp set in a primary location in different Dallas County communities, like a library, church or rec center to provide academic and personal development support to students with special needs. Students participate in various experiential and fun Learning Labs. Facilitators use appropriate accommodations and reinforce familiar concepts presented in the general education classroom and at home. The goal is to improve developmental, communication, social, pre-vocational, and functional life skills to facilitate independent living as each student matures into adulthood. C.O.R.E. is simply an opportunity for students to practice skills with peers rather than experience educational regression during the summer months. In July 2022, there were 3 Sessions available.
Program Dates:
Summer 2023 – Dates TBD
